Direct-to-chip heat capture
Heat is captured at the computing hardware through a direct-to-chip liquid loop and transported away from the processors.

Discuss a pilot KOOL PHASE technology
KOOL PHASE is developing a direct-to-chip liquid-cooling architecture designed around controlled phase change inside the Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU).
The architecture
Heat is captured at the computing hardware through a direct-to-chip liquid loop and transported away from the processors.
Controlled phase change is designed to occur inside the KOOL PHASE Coolant Distribution Unit, not around the server hardware.
KOOL PHASE is not conventional immersion cooling. Computing hardware is not submerged in coolant.
Controlled thermal cycle
Thermal energy is captured at the compute hardware through direct-to-chip cooling.
The liquid loop carries captured heat away from the processors.
Inside the Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU), the working fluid is designed to use phase change.
Thermal energy is transferred away from the primary compute loop.
The working fluid returns toward a liquid state as heat is rejected.
The cooled liquid continues through the thermal-management cycle.
Direct-to-chip heat capture at the hardware. Controlled phase change inside the Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU).
Why phase change
Phase change can move significant thermal energy by using the latent heat associated with a fluid changing state. KOOL PHASE is being developed around using that behaviour inside the CDU.
What the architecture is being designed to support
Targeting a more compact approach to thermal infrastructure.
Being developed to use cooling infrastructure more intelligently.
Designed with the potential to reduce reliance on water-intensive cooling.
An architecture intended to adapt to varied environments and requirements.
Development through validation
KOOL PHASE is being developed through an engineering-led process intended to test, measure, and refine the thermal architecture.
Defined pilot environments can help build the evidence needed to guide future development.
